Yesterday... it's really getting fall here and yesterday was full of rain showers with occasional sun in between.
And when I drove home there was the most beautiful, awesome rainbow in the sky!

The temperatures were in the mid 20s C today. Someone was wearing winter boots.

We really are ridiculous here. :muhaha:

Xa, you would laugh here... when the daily temp drops below +25C, people start wearing cardigans and jackets ;)

When it hits +10C here, people puts on a regular jacket! :gotcha:

Regular jacket is ok at +10, otherwise you would sweat with a winter jacket... But people here are used to or programmed for higher temperatures so that is why. I miss winter.

The best winter is when it's below -20C and 3 feet of snow!

I was born some 2000 or even 3000 km from you to the south, but even I must agree with this.

Ugh... can we stick to -10°C maybe? And then a blue sky with sun over all that snow? And it's completely enough to have that weather from... let's say begin of December until the middle of January?

From then on we can immediately switch to at least +20°C again :hee:

(Ther must be Floridians in my heritage somewhere - I don't like the cold)

Not that I like cold so much, but being deep-fried at 20 to 40 (+!) throughout the year is kinda booooring. Ah, once I was returning home from the neighbouring town, and it was the coldest night that winter, approx. -27 or -29, can't remember exactly. So, some 10 kilometers before my hometown, my dear diesel engine encountered some problems... I could walk faster than the speed car could achieve... it was... if it stops, I won;t be able to restart it, it is 3AM, nobody to help, there was no cell phones to call for help, so What I would do is to cloe the jacket, wrap legs in seat covers and march (military style, lol) to my home and fix the car tomorrow. Luckily for me, the car did not stop. (it was loooooong time ago, and it was VW Golf 1, lol, don't ask me anything).

Did I go to the same palce again, the following weekend, after making some minor repairs to the car? Of course! Bad weather will not stop me from achieving my plans.

Kiy, if you want to go below -0 C you want to go down to at least -15. Anything above and the air will hold moisture and it will enter all your cloths and it will make you feel much colder than it really is!
When the air is cold and dry, you will be warm...er. :geek:

A little more variety in the temperatures would be nice.

A short cold period over Christmas (cause warm Christmas ain't for me) and for the rest of the year the temperature varying between 20°C and 30°C is variation enough for me, thankyouverymuch

Xac is right on this one.

2 years ago, I was on vacation half of December and most of January. So, I was promissing my dear mom to fix some garden lights... about 2 meters above the ground... and I was promissing, and I was promissing... and the day before my departure came. So, to be a good son, I went to the market, bought parts I needed, cables and stuff... That evening, it was around -18 to -19 (which is quite cold for our standards), and I have finished packing, so I had the time to go out and finish the job. Now, my mom being as caring as she is, didn't let me go out, so I had to wait till she goes to bed, and the outside temp falls even lower, below -20. So, next one and half hours I was in circles, put the cap, go out, fix one light, rush back in to warm up my fingers, then go back and fix another one etc... In the end, one was not working so after extra 30 minutes outside everything was just perfect.

Was the result rewarding? Hell yes. Me and the brother didn't tell mom until the following evening that it is all ready, up and running. I was already in Nigeria, when she called to say thanks for a surprise.

Okay... I haven't been in a place where it was quite that cold. Usually here it gets down to -10 to -15 most in the nights and that's usually when I refuse to leave my cozy, warm house.

I remember my early childhood... We have a small house in the mountains, and in winter, it was all covered in thick snow. So, grandparents would take me there during the school break, one week, sometimes ten days. In the morning, I would wake up, put thick winter clothing on, eat something quickly and then run out and play. Around 10, grandma would already make something similar to pretzels, just much softer and fried in oil, add some cheese spread (home made), hot mint tea, as much as I want (yeeeep, grandmas tend to do that to 7 years old kids, lol), then go out again till lunch or till I freeze and want to go in. Those were the days... Now, one winter there is almost no snow, the next winter we get so much snow that it seriously damages the roof...
