Fluora - The Magical LED Houseplant

Post by Atokirina »

Oh... My... Eywa...
Someone made a biolume plant straight from Pandora. :fantasy:

It's still in its pre-order phase, and unfortunately at this moment it only ships within the US, but I'm going to leave this link here regardless:

Looks pretty cool! Definitely more reliable to light it with LED, than with that bioengineered luminescence project from... 2014? Still wish that panned out more and I got my pledged plant, even if the glow was minimal.

They were working on a bio-engineered luminescent plant? How come I haven't heard of that? :idiotic:

I once bought a glow in the dark plant... It glowed pretty well, but upon closer inspection it was just a regular Sanseveria sprayed with glow in the dark paint. I don't know why I had higher expectations, since I bought it from Walmart. :muhaha:
I eventually scrubbed the paint off because I felt bad for the plant. It's happy now, still alive and growing.

But yes, LED is definitely a better way to go if you want to make an impact. I don't think this plant will look great in day light, the leaves seem a milky white when they're off, but it's so gorgeous when it's on that I don't even care about that.
