Woo!! Dark Horse Comics just released the first comic of the new series "Avatar: The Next Shadow". This first one is called "Trouble in Paradise!" and that's exactly what it's about.
Without giving to much away, it picks up two weeks after the movie ends, and Jake is struggling with a few issues, namely tension between the Na'vi and the remaining humans, as well as amongst the Omaticaya. The characters are asking the same questions that I know a lot of people have been thinking about, eg. does taming a Toruk automatically mean you're the next clan leader, even though you're basically the newest member of the clan? So I expect to get a bunch of questions answered with this series.
Regarding the art work: unfortunately it's not as spot on as the previous comic Tsu'tey's Path. Some close ups of the faces are completely off, but in general the artwork is well done.
Worth the read if you can get your hands on it!! We're already waiting for the next issue that's scheduled to come out in February.

Re: Avatar: The Next Shadow comic
Just picked up the second copy (out of 4) titled "First Blood - Last Breath"
By now I've learned that not all Omaticaya are honourable, and we learn more about what happens when a Na'vi challenges another, so that interesting. It ends with Jake in a perilous position, but since he's already confirmed to be in the movie sequel, I think he's going to survive.
The artwork is still meh - some scenes are good but in most frames with Mo'at it looks like she aged about 100 years since we last saw her.
Additionally, you can already tell that the costumes of the characters are evolving. Since the characters in the Avatar: Pandora Rising game are wearing some amazing/extravagant/completely over the top outfits, I figured the costumes for the characters in the next movie would also be way more elaborate. We are now seeing more characters wearing elaborate outfits, though it seems to be something exclusively for higher ranking, mature people so far. One day I'll get around to posting the screenshots of the game's characters and their outfits, as well as interesting new creatures.
