It can always be better, but it can also be far worse...

Knowing my life 'far worse' is much more likely.

Re: The ground level - in and out
Any idea when will that really be? And did you have a chance to ask about a day off in December?

Re: The ground level - in and out
@Kiy: Exactly on Dec. 31st.
@boss: Well - over here it is like that: When you 'start' a new job you got no right to take days off within the first 6 months (you also can be fired right on spot without any explanations). (Employers liek to take advantage of that mechanic to not have to keep employees longer than 6 months - they get the work without having to care about 'workers rights' - as they are limited during these first 6 months. Practical for them, lousy for everybody else.)
To me wagework is like a sentence - it practically ruins your life.

Well, maybe, but if you are well paid and the boss is nice and reasonable person (like mine)...

Btw, Elyris, your description of how it all works reminds me very much of my homeland, I didn't know it's that bad there as well

Re: The ground level - in and out
It still stinks - if the conditions are 'good' you got lucky, but mostly they are not. But even if so - you loose time, day by day - and with this time you loose your life (which is especially ridiculous when I see how most younger people are oging on about how they got 'only one life and when you die it's all over' -and then they waste 90% of their time doing things they more or less hate, working with people they see more as competition then as 'firends' and do it for bosses who are trying to test out how far they could go). I simply don't like that picture, but I also came to notice than most people either don't want or simply can't think further than to their front door - which is really scary thinking of the 'chanllenges' that are already sitting on our sofa.
Yes it is and chances are very high it'll get worse.

Re: The ground level - in and out
Well, I know there is no perfect job. At mine, I have no real (or any!) competitors... I am the best (lol)!
Money is far below what I would get in Western Europe, but then, if I was single, I would be able to save virtually 100% of my earnings. And job is such that, if it was in Europe (where my family now is), I wouldn't mind retiring from there (or working there until I start my own business).
