Why?
It seems that only humans are able to be gruesome in the real sense of the word the other life forms act within the natural response (meaning: they either kill to eat or to defend or the don't understand that what they do is fatal). Other animals (given: mammalia mostly) react in a broad range and one should always be ready for surprises. I ask myself how many of such rescues might have happened out there. (Anyone remember the huge silverback protecting a small child who had fallen into the corral - how could that happen anyway, what were the parents doing - from it's curious clan members until someone came to get he boy out?)
