Atokirina, my kids, and I saw Toruk - First Flight on Jan.8 in Toronto. Technically it was outstanding. The video projections brought Pandora to life right in front of you, with volcanoes, rivers, and even glowing footsteps and floating mountains. The body suits that the performers wear are so well tailored to each performer that you can't even tell they are suits, even when several Na'vi were standing right next to us (they come right up into the crowd). And the performers speak Na'vi through the entire performance (unfortunately their microphones were a little too low, I would have liked to clearly hear the Na'vi dialogue), with summaries given by the storyteller in English. ( I liked that guy.) ;) But as a die hard fan, I have to criticize the story, which was completely inaccurate at times to Na'vi rituals (the Iknamaya scene being one of the worst offenders), sometimes a little dull and slow ( to let the performers jump around a little longer), and an ending that will leave every fan saying "that's ridiculous!" But just like Avatar itself, any criticisms you may have about the story are blown away by the sheer spectacle of the production (got chills when the life sized Toruk flew onto the stage). I'd love to see a behind the scenes documentary on how they built the stage mechanics. It's not your typical Cirque du Soliel performance, but it is a must see for any Avatar fan who can't wait until 2018 for the sequel. For 2 hours, you're not in a stadium, you're on Pandora.

Major, deep, unhappy, envious sigh!

There's still no schedule for them to come to Europe :(

Sounds sooooo awesome! I think I can overlook any plotholes just for the awesomeness of 2 more hours of Pandora. A life-sized Toruk? Seriously? How did they even fit it on stage? :omgg:

Well, life sized Toruk in scale to the human sized Na'vi performers. Still pretty big, as one of the performers of course rides it (that's not a spoiler, its right there in the show title.) So, yea, it "flies" in from backstage with a performer on its back. That guy is lucky. He gets to Toruk Makto several times a week!
"Toruk Makto, rider of last shadow. It has only happened five times since... well, since last week."
(My autocorrect keeps changing Toruk Makto to "to run Mango")

Toruk: First Flight is coming to Hamilton, where we live now, in May. You can stay at our house if you can cover airfare. ;)
With the low Canadian dollar, you'll get a great exchange rate on the Euro. That invite is open to all of the old NB gang. Maybe we should host one of our own Avatar Meetups again. :geek: Ato and I have been meaning to meet Txen for dinner for years now as he lives an hour away.

Well, with that idiot robbing my bank account unfortunately I'm still rather broke at the moment... :-/

Life-sized - even in relation to the actors that has to be some pretty big bird. Yeah - talk about a dream job. "What do you work as?" "Toruk Makto" :D

Nawmtirea....
Irayo for posting your thoughts/opinions on the TORUK performance you got to see! Glad you enjoyed it overall! :)
Like Kiyevanie, I too can overlook a couple of plotholes or inaccuracies in story elements if the overall production is good and it FEELS like Avatar -- if you feel like you're transported to Pandora for those 2 hours. I envy you that you got to see the show already! I'll be seeing it for the 1st time in June at AvatarMeet 2016, and then a 2nd time in September here in New Jersey. :)
